About Mimi

Mimi is one of the most accredited violin teachers in Colorado. Born in Chongqing, China, she performed as a first violinist in the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and has been teaching private violin lessons in the Denver area for over 30 years.

Some of Mimi’s accomplishments & experience include:

  • Juilliard School of Music, student of world-famous pedagogues Dorothy Delay and Ivan Galamian.

  • Masters degree in violin performance.

  • Indiana University, teaching fellowship with Josef Gingold.

  • Performed with the American Symphony Orchestra under Stokowski in Carnegie Hall.

  • First violinist in the Colorado Symphony Orchestra for over 30 years.

Mimi’s teaching credentials and specialty areas include:

  • Certification in all 10 Suzuki teaching books.

  • Coaching orchestral repertoire and preparing advanced students for auditions.

  • Starting young violinists and specializing in developing an individually designed curriculum appropriate to each student’s unique talents, needs, and goals.

  • Experience teaching private violin lessons in the Denver area for over 30 years.

  • Building lasting relationships with over 100 students.

  • Teacher of Master classes in both China and Germany.

  • Fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, and German.

Mimi’s students’ achievements include:

  • Admittance to Juilliard School of Music & Curtis Institute of Music

  • Members via audition to the

    • Denver Young Artists Orchestra (DYAO)

    • Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO)

    • Colorado All State Orchestra

Mimi accompanies her students on the piano and teaches in her southeast Denver Studio in Greenwood Village, close to the Denver Tech Center (DTC), near I-25 and Belleview (exit 199).

Mimi’s husband, Jurgen de Lemos, is also a renowned leader in the Colorado music community, serving as former Principal Cellist of the Colorado Symphony; Professor of Cello and Chamber Music at the University of Colorado; conductor at the Arvada Center Orchestra, Denver Young Artists Orchestra, & Boulder Youth Symphony; and current Music Director & Conductor at the Littleton Symphony Orchestra.
